Boda Smide started its operations in 1961 when blacksmith Axel Strömgren moved his forge to Boda. Erik Höglund Erik, who at the time worked at Boda Glasbruk, was inspired by Axel's craftsmanship and came down to the forge and began experimenting with combining iron and glass. A productive collaboration began within the framework of Boda Smide AB and Erik began designing, among other things, candlesticks and chandeliers for the company, while master blacksmith Axel led the work in the smithy to create unique handicraft products of the highest quality together with the other blacksmiths.
The company grew and in the 1960s and 1970s as many as 25 blacksmiths worked in production and another 5-6 people in packing, unloading and sales.
Today, the journey continues for Boda Smide. With pride and passion, we carry on a Swedish craft tradition by creating unique design objects of hand-forged iron and hand-blown glass.
